The Ribbit and BT story
BT was on a mission to reinvent itself and wanted a developer-centric approach to communication. In 2008 it acquired Ribbit, Silicon Valley’s first phone company.
Part of a track record
Ribbit is one of three consecutive exits to public companies in Dan Seyer’s career: Ribbit to BT in 2008, Jibe to Google in 2015, and Edgile to Wipro in 2021. In each case the acquirer was fulfilling its own vision and solving a specific problem, and clear positioning helped it see why the company mattered.
